The lightweight guitar that ultimately became the SG, the Melody Maker has an unbound double-cutaway Honduran Mahogany body, with a one piece Mahogany neck for an ultra-smooth playing guitar. The neck does have a small, possible cigarette burn on the back of it, and there's a finish chip near the bridge, but otherwise this is a super clean guitar, the neck is in great shape and the frets have plenty of life left. There is finish checking, expected on an instrument that's nearly a half-century old. The bridge is a reproduction and is period correct - other than that, this is all original. \u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eIt has a 24.75\" scale from its Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard, and 22 full-sized frets. It may have been originally advertised as an intro-level guitar, but it's definitely a lot more than that. The original PU-380 single-coil still sounds great, giving you a relatively unheard-of Gibson tone.
