This 1991 ES-165 harkens back to the single-pickup era of the similar ES-175; a hollow-body with depth and complexity. Gibson made a tribute to Herb Ellis, who backed up greats like Oscar Peterson and even had a stint playing here in Lawrence, KS with the University of Kansas band, with this model, sporting one Gibson humbucker on a laminated hollowbody echoing Ellis' classic '50s setup. Strung with flats, it's got a smooth and lush tone acoustically and plugged in, and with the tone knob rolled back it delivers 'that' warm jazz sound.

Here in Very Good condition, this guitar's got some history with marks and dents over the body, neck, and headstock, proof that this guitar got played - and rightfully so. This early model comes from the first year of production, and as such it does not include the Herb Ellis label on the headstock that came on later versions. Comes with the original hardshell case.
