Based on the scale length and four-string setup of the plectrum banjo, this four-string plectrum guitar was produced by Martin as a way to transition the banjo players of the age towards the guitar as it gained in  popularity. One of only 256 ever made, this piece of Martin history exhibits all the hallmarks of a late '20s Martin, with the suberb craftsmanship and wonderful small-body Mahogany tone.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMartin's records show this particular 1-17P is to be from the first year of Martin Plectrum production, and part of the 3rd batch to have their neck block stamped on April 18th, 1928.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCurrently setup and tuned to Open G, making it a perfect instrument for banjo players and Ry Cooder\/Keith Richard rockers alike, this all-hog small-body build is an interesting, great sounding guitar. Here in good condition, there is a repaired side crack (see photos), there is also finish overspray on the back of the neck. Expected playwear on an almost 100-year instrument along with minor scrapes and dings.
